World Wide Multiple Cover Insurance

Harlocks Pty Limited’s history dates back to the early 1900’s. However, it was first established in Canberra in 1972 under the Harlock International and Harlock and Galli Group of Companies.

Our association with Public Service and Defence personnel has led to many initiatives, with Harlocks being the first to establish major changes in the overseas insurance area.

This Insurance covers your personal effects (except Motor Vehicles and Watercraft) against physical loss or damage anywhere in the World, including Transit, and including General Average and Salvage Contributions.

The Policy cover is extended to include the SPECIAL Diplomatic Benefits of:
Property in Store in Australia, including Transit to and from Store
Personal Liability
Emergency Travel
Personal Accident
No excess on claims

We strongly recommend that Officers contact our office prior to completing the application form, our insurance representatives are authorised to compare and advise on this form of cover allowing you to make an informed decision.

After completing the application form, forward it to our office with payment or a Departmental Reimbursement Form (depending on the Department). A receipt will be returned immediately in acknowledgement. This receipt should be retained with the Insurance policy for future reference.

Medical, Dental and additional expenses

Your Department will cover medical expenses for you and your family from a set date (normally a certain number of days prior to your Posting starting),
until your return from Posting (normally a certain number of days from the date your Posting ends).

Should you wish to leave Australia earlier than the dates allow, you will need to effect some form of medical insurance cover which in the past has been effected by way of Travel Insurance.

Similarly, should you take a holiday at the end of your Post, you will need to effect medical insurance cover to cover this holiday.

This has been difficult to effect, due to the fact that most policies are only effective when you leave and return to a country, or you are a resident of the country you are leaving from.

We have effected a Medical, Dental and Additional Expenses policy, which commences from the date you leave Australia and/or the date you leave the Post, and continues to the date you commence your overseas Post and/or your return to Australia. The premium costs are based on the number of days that cover is required.

Claims

All claims are handled by our office. We require a completed claim form, together with a repair quotation or a repairer’s report for damaged items which can be repaired.

All monies will be deposited to your Australian bank account, with a copy of our correspondence to your bank and a replacement claim form sent to you at your overseas address.

Renewals

An expiry notice will be forwarded to the Insured one month prior to expiry date. This should be noted with any changes and returned with your remittance or a Departmental Reimbursement Form (depending on the Department). A receipt will be returned immediately in acknowledgement. The receipt should be retained with the Insurance policy for future reference.

Application

We recommend that you obtain a copy of our Insurance booklet from the Movements Section of your Department so you are aware of the terms and conditions of the covers.
